The 5 kilometre walkway the runs along San Francisco Bay between the Marina District and the Golden Gate Bridge is called the Golden Gate Promenade.  It delights visitors with breathtaking views of the Marin County hills, San Francisco Bay and the world-famous bridge.  Tourists who make the trek to the end of the walk are rewarded with the experience of walking on the Golden Gate Bridge.

Because the walk is relatively flat (unlike most walks in San Francisco), it is an excellent route for cyclists and pedestrians who are unable to climb steep hills.
