The public transit system in San Francisco is well established and widely used. It consists of a network of buses, streetcars, light rail trains, ferries, metros, cable cars and trolley busses.

Multi-day transit passes can be purchased called "Muni Passports" can be purchased for 1, 3 or 7 day durations. They cover unlimited travel on buses, street cars and cable cars. A single journey costs approximately $1.50.
The light rail system called BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) connect San Francisco with Oakland and other communities on the east side of the Bay.
